How ConvergenCE solved the electric car charger needs for their new ACADEMIA office building

The new, sustainable ACADEMIA office building of ConvergenCE

The ACADEMIA office building is the latest project of ConvergenCE, one of Hungary's leading property management, development and operation companies, located at the intersection of Akadémia and Arany János street. Thanks to its central location, the 12,500 sqm complex is already attracting companies looking for office space, so special attention was paid to meeting the needs of prospective tenants. Accordingly, the office building boasts WELL Platinum and Gold, BREEAM Excellent, WiredScore Gold and Access4You certifications, thanks to its built-in proptech features and ESG-focused approach.

ConvergenCE has thus added a building to its portfolio that provides its tenants with an environmentally friendly, modern, and comfortable workplace. An important element of this sustainable, forward-looking approach was the installation of electric vehicles chargers, which allow employees of the tenant companies to charge their electric cars in the office building's parking lot during working hours.

Parking of the future

The partnership between Parkl and ConvergenCE started in September 2022. A total of 10 double 2x22 kW wall chargers were installed in the office building's car park, which tenants can use via the Parkl app. Since transparent payment and billing processes are key elements of Parkl’s service, accountability between the users and the office building is also ensured. The chargers are monitored by a Dynamic Load Management (DLM) system, which regulates the power output of the chargers according to the current available power capacity, distributing electricity to each car optimally. The DLM system avoids power outages and overloads while also optimising charging time. 

Parkl showed the most flexibility, development-focused approach and proactvitiy of all the contenders, so it was clear to us that they were the right choice for a future-proof building”said Gábor Kovács, Head of Project Management at ConvergenCE.  

A greener future

The property opened its doors at the end of September 2023, and the chargers have been running smoothly since the beginning of October. Thanks to the larger than usual charging capacity for office buildings, installed with dynamic charging management, up to 20 cars can be charged simultaneously in the building's garage.

Parent companies keep putting a lot of emphasis on ESG aspects, looking for greener solutions in their car fleets, personal interaction with partners and supporting electromobility, especially in a downtown location where transportation and parking require more planning and preparation", mentioned Dóra Papp-Vas, Director of Leasing at ConvergenCE.
